What I've done...

DProphet.com - The site that started it all (for me, at least.) A Harry Potter fan site run as a charity for children in an effort to improve their writing skills.

Prophet Incorporated - A 501(c)3 non-profit organization I created in August of 2003 to act as a parent company to my other charity organizations. We do good stuff, check us out.

The Dercum Society - An international support campaign to promote awareness of Dercum's Disease, a very painful and potentially fatal condition that despite having been discovered over 100 years ago, is still widely unheard of among medical professionals and the general public. I was diagnosed with this disease at the age of 20 and I consider myself lucky to have been diagnosed at all. My goal is to educate more doctors about this condition so that more of their patients may be properly diagnosed and treated before it's too late to improve their quality of life.

NoToes - An online support group and resource site for people who have lost toes through either accident or disease.

Founding Letters - A live-blogging project featuring the correspondences of the Founding Fathers (and Founding Mothers!) We're starting off with the letters of Jefferson & Adams, but keep an eye out, more post is on the way!

HeatherLawver.com - My online resume and portfolio. It's all cute and stuff.

DADA and/or PotterWar - DADA was my site, which was the sister site of PotterWar, so I'm linking to both. DADA (Defense Against the Darks) and PotterWar, run by myself and Alastair Alexander, were the sites that took on Warner Brothers... and won. Check out either site for the whole story. Or email me and I'll certainly talk your ear off about it. :)

The Heather Show Vintage Video Kitschorama! - I created this series of video podcasts using vintage educational and public service films that were made from the 1930s through to the 1970s. I was only able to create a couple episodes before illness took me away from the project, but I'm very proud of what I created and I will definitely get back to working on it as soon as possible.

Love Bug! - A series of sardonic little illustrations I did a couple years back. They crack me up, and it's one of those projects that I'd love to get back into.

Calculo.co.uk - A branch of the Daily Prophet, this one focusing on reading comprehension and literary appreciation. It's an online library and reference center for teachers and parents. Fun, if you're into that sort of stuff.

Meg's Megs - My rather sad attempt at writing an HTML tutorial. I only did it cause I got tired of the constant emails from kids asking me to tutor them in HTML. It makes it easier to put it all on one site rather than replying to oodles of emails individually, repeating all that stuff over and over. It's far from perfect, but not too bad for a first edition (and it's cute, too [in a girly kinda way]).

HP IofY - Um, I'm not sure how I feel about this one, but I'm putting it up here anyway. Suffice it to say, I was bored two years ago, wanted to write a novel, and at the time (1 o'clock in the morning, January, 2000) it seemed like a good idea. I would have stopped writing it ages ago, but the fans told me they'd have to hurt me if I didn't complete it. What is it? ...a Harry Potter fan fiction...

Friends & Good Reads

Lawver.net - My elder brother's blog. He's the one who infected me with the Internet-savviness. I haven't reached his level yet, but I'm working on it.

The Mighty Tim - This is my second eldest brother's blog. He's a fantabulously funny guy, living on the west coast, doing the whole brainy Doctor thing. Check out his excellent photography, his uber-cute daughter, and his infamous sense of humor. Soon you'll see why all the girls swooned whenever The Mighty Tim walked by.

Uncle Bud - This is my Uncle Bud. Personally, I think everyone should have an Uncle Bud, because really, what's not to love? Uncle Buds are great fun, are very handy when you need a driver's license, they're very intellectual and professional, yet they always know how to make you laugh. :) As for my Uncle Bud, watch out, he's mine (and all of my cousins own a share of him, I guess, but whatever. I know I'm his favorite.)

Josh Koury - The director of 'We Are Wizards' and just a damn fine guy. Keep an eye on his site, cause no doubt, all sorts of wondrous things are going to happen because of Josh.

Gaia Cornwall - Gaia is the illustrator for my new favorite film, 'We Are Wizards', and apart from that, she's just a flat out fantastic person. Check out her blog and be sure to roam about and check out her portfolio, her 'drawings for little people', and - my personal favorite - her darling Magnetic Kids!

The Chief's Blog - I first met "The Chief" when I was 15 and we've been great friends ever since. I think he's the one person who knows me best.

Henry Jenkins - I often wish I could run away to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and it's all this man's fault. Henry Jenkins is the Director of MIT's Comparative Media Studies Program. Or, in other words, he's a genius. He's one of those rare people you meet and are instantly jealous of, wishing you could somehow transplant their amazing wealth of knowledge into your own noggin. He's made a science out of stuff I have always found fascinating, but never really knew how to put together into something cohesive. I was privileged to have made his acquaintance when he interviewed me for his fabulous new book, Convergence Culture - you should check it out; not only is it fabulous, but chapter five is named after me. :) He's one smart cookie, and now he has a blog! Imagine my joy! Go read it, you just might learn something. But be warned: you too may find yourself wishing you could run away to MIT so you can be smart like him too. Now if only I had oodles of money for tuition...

A Life in Translation - This is my friend Stephen's blog. He's funny, he's unique, and hey, he's zealous. :)

Rude Cactus - This is Chris' blog. He's funny. Go read his blog. Now.

So The Fish Said... - And this is Beth's blog. She's married to Chris. She's funny too. Go read her blog. Faster now, come on.

RedMeat.com - Percolating perversion for your perusing pleasure. A comic strip that started in Tucson, AZ but has since branched out. Loads of fun, as long as you aren't easily offended by bathroom humor and the like.

TheNorm.com - Another great comic strip, but not as weird as RedMeat. It's dang cute (but not in a girly way), and really funny.

Art, Music, & Pretty Things

Kenton Nelson - By far my favorite modern painter, Kenton Nelson creates these beautifully smooth and bold paintings that remind me of Norman Rockwell on crack. They're so idyllically perfect, yet have such deep undertones of the macabre. As someone once said of his work, at first glance it seems so innocent and pure, but looking at his work you can't help but feel there's a dead body just outside the scope of the canvas. This dichotomy is endlessly intriguing and ultimately beautiful in its complexity.

Jordi Labanda - An amazingly chic and endlessly cool modern illustrator and painter. He seamlessly captures the essence of "mod" but transforms it into something new and exhilarating. I regularly go nuts buying up fantastic notebooks with his illustrations on the covers, and one of my prized possessions is a gigantic art book filled to the brim with his spectacular work. Keep an eye on him and be sure to check out the online store on his site - you won't regret it, but I can guarantee, you'll be emptying your wallet for a piece of Labanda.

Shag: The Art of Josh Agle - Continuing in the same vein as Jordi Labanda, Josh Agle - otherwise known as "Shag" - takes mod to a whole new level with his brilliant, bold, and electrifying paintings. He carries on a sense of playfulness throughout his work that compels you to view the world through neon colored glasses.

Have Some Hats - My brother Steven first showed me Have Some Hats several years ago and I've been completely hooked ever since. The site is run by a young man named Kyle who creates these seemingly simple sketches, but this outwardly simplicity is just a facade, momentarily disguising distinctive depth, talent, and a fantastic sense of humor.
